President's Message
Dear Weaving Friends,
For me, Spring is like a beautifully wrapped gift. I know what's inside. The anticipation is part of the allure. New growth’s golden shades, then greens pushing up, up and out. Sometimes followed by a blast of color. Sweet Creation. Observing Nature is a key Inspiration, for me.
Discussion Prompts for Monday's Meeting:
Where do you find your Inspiration for Fiber Arts?
What would you like to learn, or further explore in weaving?
Where are you on your weaving journey?
Is there a topic you would like to know more about?
We have a deep expertise in our guild that could be tapped into. Maybe you have an interest that can be incorporated into some of our monthly guild meetings, and/or for Study Group sessions. A subject to think about now for more discussion at our upcoming Monday guild meeting.
Suggestions, so far:
-
Learn more about different weaving fibers. Natural vs. Synthetic. Bast fibers. What exactly are they, and how to use in a weave, and on the loom.
-
Color. So many directions to go here. **If color is of interest to you be sure to come to Susie’s in May for her Dye workshop.**
Please bring:
-
Anything you would like to share for show-and-tell.
-
Samples or images of things that inspire you.
Thank you, Bernie, for suggesting Inspiration as this month's theme.
Happy Spring, ~ Vicky

The Golden Gate Weavers Guild meets the third Monday of the month, 10:00am to Noon in the Gooseberry Room, at the North Berkeley Senior Center, 1901 Hearst Ave, or on Zoom. No meetings in July, August and December.
Study Group
The Study Group will NOT meet in April (because the 3rd Saturday is on Easter weekend and the 4th Saturday is the CNCH 2025 Conference weekend).
We will meet in May when the subject will be Space Dyeing plant fiber skeins and warp stripe chains with Fiber Reactive dyes. You will need:
-
a plastic bucket

plastic wrap
-
a flat pan like a kitty litter box or a cheap foil roasting pan from the grocery store.
Additional supplies will be in the May newsletter, but most of them will be available for sharing.
