Golden Gate Weavers
Golden Gate Weavers Guild is the oldest weaving guild in Northern California. Due to the Covid19 pandemic, we are meeting virtually via Zoom on the third Monday of the month. The Guild does not meet in July, August, or December. If you would like to attend one of our virtual meetings or join our Guild, you can contact us at email@example.com. Everyone is welcome!
Our Service Project
Our guild has donated 55 handwoven items (dish towels or pot holders) to the Meals on Wheels of Alameda County. Our donations are part of a "holiday care package" that Meals on Wheels will put together in December. The care packages will go to house-bound residents in the Berkeley area. Colleen at Meals on Wheels has said that our donations "will be deeply appreciated."
Please check out our Gallery from our November, 2020 Show and Tell. Here are a few submissions.
In 1941, with a membership of 38, an exhibit was given at the Claremont Hotel. It featured six furnished rooms: a colonial and a modern living room, a dining room and a bedroom. All the textiles were handwoven. Three hundred dollars was made and donated to the British War Relief.
