President's Message
Dear Weavers,

Annual Picnic and Auction
The annual June picnic and Auction is coming up. This year it's on Monday, June 15th. at our regular time, 10:00 am, and the usual location, Tilden Park at the base of Canon Drive. See map below or Google Maps link.

What to Bring
Bring yarns, threads, and weaving equipment that you are willing to donate to the auction. All proceeds from the auction go towards our GGWG Programs fund.
Potluck
It will be a Potluck picnic. Please bring something you would like to share:
-
Fresh cut fruit, a light salad or baked goods
-
You’re welcome to bring your own reusable plate & utensils.
I will supply drinks - water, and a light tea.
For anyone who has not experienced one of our June Picnic and Auction events, here are some points to know:
There are two picnic tables at our site. One table gets the Food and Drinks. The other table gets the Fiber and weaving Items to be auctioned.
Walk around and get a good look at the items on the Fiber table. Gives you a chance to feel some threads, maybe touch the wood on a shuttle.
We usually have sun, but the mornings in the East Bay can be cool. My advice would be to bring a sweater or a light jacket.
If you have an extra comfortable camping chair, bring it.
Looking forward to seeing you on the 15th.
Happy weaving! ~ Vicky

Color Clinic
Picking up on the Color Palettes activity in April, we'll look at questions members have using color. What colors do you like to weave together? Do you have a color that you don't know what to do with? We'll employ the wisdom of the crowd (Golden Gate Weavers) to discuss color design choices.
Please bring with you:
-
2-3 colors of fiber from your stash

The Golden Gate Weavers Guild meets on the third Monday of the month, 10:00 am to Noon in the Gooseberry Room, at the North Berkeley Senior Center, 1901 Hearst Ave, or on Zoom. No meetings in July, August, and December.

Weaving Cloth for Clothing
In our March meeting, we started planning and designing our projects. People are moving along at different paces.
Project Plans shared:
-
Making a Quechquemitl, poncho, from cloth she has woven (Koko)
-
Exploring clothing options from IKAT cloth she wove one year at CNCH, or from a length of Heart pattern yardage (Susie)
-
Making a blouse with a cowl neckline from her finely woven cloth (Penny)
-
Replicating some Harris Tweed for a vest and/or make a peasant's blouse (Bernie)
-
Sewing a silk vest from fabric woven with a weft of torn silk komono fabric (Naoko)

You can join the Study Group at any time, and get help or to check out what we're doing. It's a great way to see how your fellow guild members develop ideas, plan, sample, and make cloth. Below are some photos from the group meeting.
